Roughriders Safety Kosi Onyeka Eyes Back-to-Back Starts
It’s been a big couple of weeks for Saskatchewan Roughriders safety Kosi Onyeka, who could be in line for his second straight start this weekend. The young defender stepped up in a major way during last week’s outing, sticking to the game plan and helping spark a dominant defensive performance.
“You have to play within the scheme, and it worked,” Onyeka said after practice. “We got four picks and the W. That’s what matters.”
The Riders are now gearing up for a Saturday showdown with the Montreal Alouettes, looking to ride that defensive momentum into another big win.
Elsewhere around the CFL and beyond:
Winnipeg QB Zach Collaros has been ruled out of the Bombers’ Friday night clash.
The Toronto Blue Jays’ bullpen woes continue, with the closer giving up yet another homer in a tough loss.
Junior hockey heats up as the Regina Pats and Prince Albert Raiders get set to face off in Yorkton.
And the SJHL preseason rolled on with more scores across the province.
From gridiron grit to hockey rinks and ballparks, Saskatchewan sports fans are in for another action-packed weekend.
