Ambaiowei: Jonathan Favored the North During His Presidency

Former acting chairman of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Engr. Charles Ambaiowei, has stirred political discussions after declaring that former President Goodluck Jonathan remains the most qualified leader to guide Nigeria in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking in an interview, Ambaiowei noted that Jonathan, during his tenure as president, maintained a fair balance in governance and even favored the northern region in several key decisions. He argued that northern leaders are well aware of this history and would not oppose Jonathan’s return if he decides to contest.

Ambaiowei stressed that Nigeria’s present challenges require a leader with proven experience and national acceptability, pointing out that Jonathan’s record in office still stands as evidence of his capability. He added that Jonathan’s leadership style promoted inclusiveness and unity, which are needed in today’s political climate.
