BREAKING NEWS: Niger State Governor Bago Dissolves Cabinet! 

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has dissolved his entire cabinet, sparing only the Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, and a few top aides.

The announcement came during today’s State Executive Council meeting at Government House, Minna.

Bago thanked his former cabinet members for their service and wished them well in their future endeavors.

Meanwhile, on the national front, the Federal Government has issued a tough warning to electricity generation companies (GenCos). The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has ordered all GenCos to fully implement the Free Governor Control (FGC) system to stabilize the national grid — or risk disconnection.

Any GenCo that fails to comply by November 30, 2025, faces:

A 10% penalty per defaulting unit.

Disconnection from the grid after 90 days of non-compliance.

NERC emphasized that repeated power grid collapses in 2024 were linked to GenCos ignoring the Grid Code. The regulator has now mandated the installation of IoT-enabled meters by October 31, 2025, with real-time monitoring to follow.
