BREAKING: Tinubu Declares War on Hospitals’ Electricity Woes
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has vowed to tackle the persistent power supply crisis crippling hospitals across Nigeria, pledging that no medical facility will be left in the dark under his administration.
Speaking during a high-level meeting with health sector stakeholders, Tinubu described the situation as “unacceptable and life-threatening,” stressing that patients cannot continue to suffer or lose their lives because of erratic electricity supply.
> “We cannot build a healthy nation when our hospitals struggle to keep lights on, power operating theaters, or run life-saving equipment,” the President said. “We are moving beyond excuses — every hospital in Nigeria will have stable and sustainable power.”
The President revealed that his administration is working on a special intervention program to provide hospitals with dedicated electricity supply, combining renewable energy solutions, mini-grids, and improved public power infrastructure.
Tinubu’s declaration has drawn applause from health professionals and civil society groups, who say stable power in hospitals will save thousands of lives, reduce medical errors, and improve service delivery nationwide.
Analysts believe this move could mark a turning point in Nigeria’s healthcare system, where doctors and patients alike have long battled unreliable power supply and rising costs of running diesel generators.
