Directors Guild of Nigeria Appoints Akwa Ibom Governor as Patron
The Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) has appointed the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, as a patron of the guild in recognition of his contributions to the creative industry and support for Nollywood.
The appointment was announced during a courtesy visit by the guild’s leadership to the governor in Uyo. DGN executives commended Governor Eno’s commitment to promoting arts, culture, and tourism in Akwa Ibom, noting that his administration has created enabling policies for the growth of the entertainment sector.
Governor Eno, while accepting the honour, pledged continued support for the Nigerian film industry and emphasized the role of Nollywood in job creation, youth empowerment, and projecting Nigeria’s image globally.
The DGN leadership expressed optimism that the partnership with the Akwa Ibom government will open new opportunities for filmmakers and strengthen the state’s positioning as a hub for movie production in Nigeria.
