EFCC, Korean Police Sign Pact to Tackle Financial Crimes

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) to strengthen cooperation in the fight against financial crimes.

The agreement was formalized during the 3rd International Counter-Fraud Conference held in Seoul, South Korea, with the theme “Global Fraud Shield: Coordinated Defense Against Evolving Threats.”

Under the pact, both agencies will collaborate on intelligence sharing, joint investigations, research, training, asset recovery, and public education on fraud prevention. The deal also provides for capacity building and mutual support to boost institutional effectiveness.

EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede said the partnership would help Nigeria tap into global expertise in combating sophisticated cross-border crimes, while enhancing the commission’s transparency and accountability drive.

Officials from South Korea hailed the agreement as a vital step toward building a stronger global front against financial crimes.
