JUST IN: Idoma Council Clears Air on Revoked Chieftaincy Title, Denies Tinubu’s Involvement

The Idoma Traditional Council has dismissed reports linking President Bola Tinubu to the recent revocation of a chieftaincy title in Idoma land.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the council described the claims as “baseless, misleading, and capable of causing unnecessary tension,” stressing that the decision had no political undertones or external influence.

The council explained that the withdrawal of the traditional title was purely an internal affair based on established customs and disciplinary procedures. According to them, attempts to drag the President’s name into the matter were deliberate efforts by mischief-makers to politicize a sensitive cultural issue.

> “At no point was President Tinubu consulted, involved, or even aware of the traditional decision taken by the Idoma Council. The action was guided strictly by our customs and traditions,” the statement clarified.

The traditional rulers further appealed to the public to disregard such reports and warned individuals and groups spreading falsehoods to desist from tarnishing the image of both the council and the Presidency.

They emphasized their commitment to preserving Idoma cultural heritage while fostering unity and peace among the people.
