BREAKING: Divorce Drama in Zambia as Woman Accuses Husband of Returning Home With Used Condoms
According to a report by the Nigerian Tribune on Saturday, September 6, 2025, a divorce case in Mazabuka Court, Zambia, has sparked shock after a woman accused her husband of infidelity, claiming he often returned home with used condoms.
The case involves Eid Phiri of Airstrip Compound in Lusaka, who filed for divorce from his wife of 11 years, Lona Chinta, citing her alleged failure to uphold Islamic practices and her lifestyle, which he described as “unacceptable.”
Phiri told the court that his wife’s habit of smoking pounded tobacco (nsunko), keeping company with friends who drink alcohol, and failing to repay informal savings loans had brought shame and hardship to his family.
But in a heated defense, Chinta fired back, accusing Phiri of chronic unfaithfulness. She alleged that her husband would sometimes return home with used condoms in his possession, a claim that drew gasps inside the courtroom.
Their troubled union began in 2012, after Phiri impregnated Chinta. Though he was charged K8,000 as compensation and bride price, he reportedly paid only K3,000. The couple went on to have two children, but years of conflict and mistrust appear to have eroded their marriage.
While Phiri insists on divorce over what he calls Chinta’s disregard for Islamic values and her “bad company,” Chinta maintains his infidelity is the true reason for the breakdown of their marriage.
The court has reserved judgment, leaving the final decision on the fate of their 11-year marriage pending.
