EFCC Arrests 37 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Warri and Owerri
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Port Harcourt Zonal Directorate, has announced the arrest of 37 suspected internet fraudsters in separate sting operations conducted in Warri, Delta State, and Owerri, Imo State.
According to the commission, the suspects were apprehended following credible intelligence on their alleged involvement in cyber-related crimes, including online scams, identity theft, and obtaining money by false pretenses.
Items recovered from the suspects include luxury cars, mobile phones, laptops, and other incriminating documents. The EFCC stated that the individuals will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
The agency reiterated its commitment to tackling cybercrime across the country, warning youths against engaging in internet fraud, popularly known as “Yahoo Yahoo.”
