The Anambra State Police Command has uncovered an illegal factory engaged in the production of fake soft drinks in the state.
According to reports, operatives stormed the facility following credible intelligence, leading to the arrest of one suspect who was allegedly behind the counterfeit operation. The fake drinks, produced under unhygienic conditions, were packaged in bottles and cans imitating popular brands, posing a serious health risk to unsuspecting consumers.
Police spokesperson confirmed the raid, adding that large quantities of counterfeit drinks, empty bottles, and production equipment were recovered from the site.
Authorities have assured the public that investigations are ongoing to identify other accomplices and trace the distribution network of the fake products.
The suspect is currently in custody and will be charged in court once investigations are concluded.
The police further urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities in their neighborhoods to help curb the circulation of harmful counterfeit goods.
