Actor Yemi Solade Explains Why He Quit Church for Over a Decade

Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has revealed why he stopped attending church services more than ten years ago. Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, the actor recalled a 2013 incident when a pastor instructed him to reject film jobs scheduled on Sundays. He described the demand as unrealistic and a direct threat to his career.

Solade explained that since distancing himself from church activities, he has experienced greater peace and stability. He criticized the notion that missing church attendance negatively affects one’s life, stressing that he has continued to thrive outside the church.

The actor also shared frustrations over how church commitments often interfered with people’s work and finances, citing an example where money meant for services ended up being taken to church instead.

According to him, the decision to step away was not a loss of faith but a rejection of practices he felt were exploitative and disruptive to his livelihood.
