New passport, new price tag ????✈️ — ₦100k for 32 pages, ₦200k for 64 pages!

The Federal Government has announced an upward review of Nigerian international passport fees, effective 1st September 2025. Officials say the increase is meant to cover upgrades to biometric systems, enhanced security features, and faster service delivery.
New Official Fees:
* 32-page, 5-year passport: ₦100,000
* 64-page, 10-year passport: ₦200,000
* Diaspora fees (unchanged): $150 (5-year), $230 (10-year)
While authorities insist the adjustment will help reduce processing delays and curb fraud, the move has sparked mixed reactions nationwide. Many Nigerians are worried about affordability, questioning why citizens should pay more when passport processing is still plagued by delays, middlemen, and hidden charges.
Critics argue that in a struggling economy, such hikes only make international travel more of a luxury than a right. Others have asked the government to first fix poor service delivery before raising prices.
