ADC to Tinubu: You Lack Power to Sack or Appoint Governors

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has cautioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against interfering in the affairs of state governments.

In a statement issued by the party’s spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC stressed that the Nigerian Constitution does not grant the President the authority to hire or fire elected governors. The party emphasized that governors are chosen by the people and can only be removed through constitutionally defined processes such as impeachment by their state legislatures.

The ADC further warned that any attempt by the Presidency to assume such powers undermines Nigeria’s democracy and federal system, urging respect for the separation of powers and the independence of state governments.
