Kidnappers Abduct Travellers in Edo, Police Rescue 16

The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of 16 passengers who were abducted along the Benin-Auchi Road on Friday.

Command spokesperson, Moses Yamu, disclosed on Saturday that the victims, who were travelling in an Edoline bus and a Toyota Corolla, were taken into the bush by kidnappers.

A video that surfaced Saturday morning showed the abandoned vehicles at the scene, with a male narrator claiming that about 18 people were initially whisked away.

Police operatives, however, swiftly mobilized to the area and successfully rescued 16 of the abducted travellers.

Efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the remaining victims and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
