Jonathan, Obi in Fresh Talks Ahead of 2027 Elections

Former President Goodluck Jonathan and ex-presidential candidate Peter Obi recently held a closed-door meeting to discuss strategies for the 2027 polls.

Sources revealed it was part of ongoing talks between the two leaders, who share similar political bases in the South and Middle Belt. Both camps fear that running separately could strengthen President Bola Tinubu’s chances of re-election.

The discussions reportedly focused on forming a coalition and deciding who should step aside for the other as a presidential candidate. While Jonathan is being courted by the PDP, he remains cautious due to the party’s internal crises. Obi, on the other hand, has shown support for the ADC but has not officially left the Labour Party.

The meeting marks their third or fourth since Easter, signaling serious political maneuvering as Nigeria heads toward 2027.
