Kwara Begins 2026 Hajj Registration, Cost Set at ₦8.5m
The Kwara State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has officially commenced registration for the 2026 Hajj exercise, with the cost pegged at ₦8.5 million per intending pilgrim.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Abdullahi Ahmed, urged intending pilgrims to begin payment early to secure their slots. He explained that the amount covers airfare, accommodation in Saudi Arabia, feeding, visa processing, and other logistics.
Ahmed further advised interested participants to register only through the state pilgrims’ board and avoid fraudulent agents.
> “We encourage all intending pilgrims to take advantage of this early registration window. Payments can be made in installments, but full settlement is required before the deadline. The Board is committed to ensuring a smooth and transparent process for all,” he stated.
The Board also disclosed that the ₦8.5m fee was determined after extensive consultations with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and in consideration of current foreign exchange realities.
Meanwhile, religious leaders in the state have called on well-meaning individuals and philanthropists to support less privileged Muslims who may wish to embark on the spiritual journey but are unable to afford the cost.
The 2026 Hajj is expected to attract thousands of pilgrims from across Nigeria, with Kwara State traditionally contributing a significant number to the annual exercise.
