Breaking News: Lagos Task Force Cracks Down on Street Traders in Victoria Island
The Lagos State enforcement team has stormed Bishop Oluwole Street, Victoria Island, dislodging illegal street traders in a major clean-up operation.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the exercise on Monday via the state’s official X handle, stressing that the move is part of ongoing efforts to restore order, ensure free movement, and maintain environmental standards.
> “This action is part of our continuous drive to restore sanity, guarantee smooth vehicular and pedestrian flow, and keep Lagos clean,” Wahab said.
He further warned that traders must relocate to government-approved markets, adding that repeat violators would face stiffer penalties.
This operation comes amid intensified efforts by the state government in recent months to clamp down on street trading and illegal structures across major roads in Lagos.
