Federal Government Trains 100 Higher Institution Students in Entrepreneurship

The Federal Government has trained 100 students from various higher institutions across Nigeria in entrepreneurship as part of its drive to promote self-reliance and reduce graduate unemployment.

The programme, organised through the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, focused on equipping students with practical business skills, including business planning, financial management, digital marketing, and innovation-driven enterprise development.

According to the organisers, the initiative is designed to prepare young Nigerians to create jobs rather than depend solely on white-collar employment. Participants will also benefit from mentorship and access to small business funding opportunities under government youth empowerment schemes.

Officials noted that strengthening entrepreneurship at the tertiary level is critical to boosting Nigeria’s economy, diversifying revenue sources, and reducing the pressure on the job market.

Some participants expressed optimism that the training would help them convert their academic knowledge into sustainable business ventures.

The Federal Government has pledged to expand the programme to reach more institutions in the coming months, aligning with its policy to foster a knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy.
