The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results, showing that 60.26% of candidates obtained at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.

Out of 1,358,339 candidates who sat for the exam, 818,492 passed with credits in core subjects, while 1,144,496 candidates (84.26%) secured five credits regardless of English and Maths.

Cases of exam malpractice dropped to 3,878 from 10,094 last year, though 38 schools across 13 states face sanctions for mass cheating, and nine supervisors may be blacklisted.

Kano, Lagos and Oyo States recorded the highest number of successful candidates, while Gabon was listed as the least performing centre. NECO also confirmed a reduction of examinable subjects to 38, following the revised curriculum.

The exams were conducted from June 16 to July 25, with results released 54 days after the final paper.
