TikTok Star Peller Hospitalised After Crashing New Mercedes-Benz in Emotional Livestream Meltdown

Popular Nigerian TikTok influencer and livestreamer Habeeb Hamzat, better known as Peller, was rushed to hospital on Sunday after crashing his newly acquired Mercedes-Benz during a distressing Instagram live session. The incident, which unfolded in real-time along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, has sent shockwaves across social media, raising serious concerns about mental health, road safety, and the pressures of online fame.

The dramatic events began when the young content creator, believed to be in his late teens or early 20s, went live under the ominous title “RIP Peller.” Viewers watched in horror as Peller appeared visibly agitated and tearful while driving his luxury SUV, reportedly valued at over ₦100 million and purchased just days earlier. He was engaged in what many believe was a heated phone conversation with his girlfriend, fellow influencer Amadou Elizabeth Aminata, known as Jarvis, amid fresh rumours of a breakup.

According to the nations   During the broadcast, Peller made several alarming statements that suggested deep emotional distress. He repeatedly expressed fear of public mockery, saying, “If you break up with me, people will be mocking me, they will be mocking me.” In a particularly chilling moment, he declared, “I will use this car and have an accident right now,” before adding, “I’m scared… Thank you, I’m going to kill myself.” Moments later, the livestream captured the vehicle veering off the road and colliding violently with a barrier.

Bystanders quickly gathered at the scene, assisting the influencer before he was extracted from the wreckage and transported to a nearby hospital. Photos and videos circulating online show extensive damage to the front of the custom-wrapped Mercedes, with the airbag deployed. While Peller was confirmed to have been rescued alive and admitted for treatment, the full extent of his injuries remains undisclosed as of Monday afternoon. No fatalities or injuries to other road users were reported.
The crash has ignited a firestorm of reactions on social media platforms. Many fans and netizens expressed genuine worry for Peller’s well-being, highlighting the potential mental health struggles exacerbated by the relentless spotlight of internet fame. Comments flooded in urging compassion and professional help, with some pointing to the toxic nature of public relationships in the influencer space. “This is a cry for help,” one user wrote. “Young people like Peller need support, not judgment.”

However,According to punchnews the  opinions are sharply divided. A significant portion of online discourse questions whether the incident was genuine or staged for clout, citing Peller’s history of creating viral, dramatic content. Skeptics argue that the controlled nature of the crash—avoiding harm to others—and the theatrical buildup suggest it could be a publicity stunt. “If it was real suicide intent, it wouldn’t be announced on live,” one critic noted. Others praised his survival but condemned the recklessness.

Adding fuel to the controversy is the couple’s tumultuous relationship history. Peller and Jarvis have long been a fixture in Nigerian social media circles, often sharing their on-again, off-again romance with millions of followers. Previous episodes include public arguments, leaked conversations, allegations of infidelity, and dramatic reconciliations—all played out online for entertainment value. Renewed breakup rumours, reportedly triggered by a recent dispute, are believed to have precipitated Sunday’s meltdown. Jarvis later broke her silence in an emotional post, tearfully stating, “I tried my best,” while denying responsibility and expressing frustration at being blamed.

The incident has also drawn
official scrutiny.

On Monday, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) announced plans to prosecute Peller for distracted driving, livestreaming while behind the wheel, and reckless behaviour. Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed condemned the act, stating that such distractions pose “grave danger” to drivers and innocent road users. The FRSC emphasised that no celebrity is above the law and vowed to apply full penalties, including charges for phone use while driving.

This case underscores broader issues plaguing Nigeria’s booming influencer industry. Rapid fame at a young age, coupled with the pressure to constantly produce engaging content, can amplify personal crises into public spectacles. Mental health experts have weighed in, calling for better support systems for content creators and awareness about the dangers of mixing emotional distress with hazardous activities like driving.

As investigations continue and Peller recovers in hospital, neither he nor Jarvis has released a comprehensive official statement. Fans await updates on his condition, while authorities prepare potential legal action. The episode serves as a stark reminder of the double-edged sword of social media stardom: immense reach and reward, but at the risk of profound personal cost.
