Abia Bans Mid-School Transfers for SS2, SS3 Students
The Abia State Government has announced a ban on mid-school transfers for Senior Secondary School 2 (SS2) and Senior Secondary School 3 (SS3) students across the state.
The directive, issued by the State Ministry of Education, is aimed at curbing examination malpractice, improving academic performance, and ensuring proper monitoring of students within the state’s school system.
According to the ministry, students in their final years of secondary education will no longer be allowed to switch schools midway, as such transfers often disrupt academic stability and encourage unhealthy practices, especially in preparation for external examinations such as WAEC and NECO.
The government emphasized that while transfers will still be allowed for students in lower classes, strict conditions will apply to ensure transparency and accountability.
Parents, guardians, and school administrators have been urged to comply fully with the new directive, which takes immediate effect.
Education stakeholders in the state have commended the move, describing it as a step toward strengthening the integrity of the school system and safeguarding the future of Abia’s students.
