Haryana Launches AI-Powered “Smart Plus” Schools in Gurgaon

The government of Haryana has unveiled an ambitious plan to upgrade more than 5,000 government schools in Gurgaon into “Smart Plus Schools.” The initiative aims to transform traditional classrooms into high-tech learning environments, equipping them with artificial intelligence tools, virtual labs, interactive boards, and digital content libraries.

Officials say the project will particularly target STEM subjects, where interactive and technology-driven methods are expected to significantly improve student outcomes. Teachers will also undergo extensive training to ensure they can effectively use the new tools.

The program builds on earlier “smart school” initiatives but goes further by integrating AI-driven personalized learning systems designed to track student progress and suggest customized learning pathways. Authorities hope this will help reduce the digital divide, particularly for students in rural areas who often lack access to advanced learning resources.

Parents and education experts have welcomed the initiative, describing it as a leap forward in preparing children for the digital economy. However, some caution that infrastructure challenges such as stable electricity and internet access must be resolved for the program to succeed fully.
