Enugu Trains 18,000 Teachers Ahead of Smart Schools Resumption

In a bold step towards educational reform, the Enugu State Government has trained more than 18,000 teachers ahead of the September resumption of its Smart Green Schools initiative. The programme, championed by Governor Peter Mbah, focuses on equipping teachers with digital literacy skills and modern instructional methods to replace outdated rote learning styles.

The training covered both newly recruited and existing teachers, preparing them to handle technology-driven classrooms that will emphasise interactive and practical learning. According to officials, this initiative forms part of the state’s wider Education Transformation Plan designed to reposition Enugu as a leader in innovative learning.

With the Smart Green Schools set to take off this month, parents and education stakeholders are optimistic that the reforms will improve learning outcomes, prepare students for global competitiveness, and set a new benchmark for quality education in Nigeria.
