Google Offers Free AI Pro Subscriptions to Nigerian Students, Others in Africa

Google has announced that college students in Nigeria and seven other African countries will receive a free one-year AI Pro subscription, aimed at boosting digital skills and innovation.

The plan gives students access to advanced AI tools for coding, writing, and research, helping them improve academic work and prepare for the digital economy.

The initiative covers Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Ghana, Egypt, Ethiopia, Uganda, and Rwanda, and forms part of Google’s broader investment in Africa’s digital ecosystem.

The rollout begins in the coming weeks through participating institutions, with Google saying the move will help bridge technology gaps and empower Africa’s next generation of innovators.
